Storytelling, Literatures and Cinema in Burkina Faso: Burkina Faso, “the Republic of the Honest People,” is the Motherland of African Cinema. Students participating in this Study Abroad Program will learn about the rich storytelling tradition of this highly multicultural state. Students will watch films and discuss them with the filmmakers. Participants will meet with writers, musicians and many other actors of Burkinabe cultural life. Proposed courses include West African Societies and Cultures and Storytelling, Film and Literature. Student can enroll for AFST/CMLT 2100, AFST/CMLT 3030, AFST/CMLT 3150, AFST 3900, CMLT 3990, AFST/ANTH/CMLT 4245, and CMLT 4230.
