This class will  learn an African language and the culture of Wolof. Wolof is a language spoken in Senegal, Gambia and Mauritania. It is the Lingua Franca in Senegal and an important trade language in West Africa. It is one of the Niger-Congo language that is not tonal; Senegal is a French speaking country, the Wolof language has many French words. The elementary Wolof course is therefore an introduction to the Wolof language and culture.
