Topic: (STORIES ABOUT) STORIES ABOUT MLIMANI PARK ORCHESTRA About the Lecture In this presentation, Dr. Frank Gunderson will discuss the making of the film, Stories about Mlimani Park Orchestra. Active since 1978, the band Mlimani Park Orchestra (aka Sikinde) has been acclaimed as one of the greatest rhumba bands on the African continent. Three of the original twelve members are still in the group, and several other original members are currently active in bands in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The filmmaker will discuss issues pertaining to the intersections of documentary filmmaking and research in the Humanities.
