Every year for 26 years, the University System of Georgia organizes a simulation of the annual meeting of Heads of State of the African Union (AU). The simulation, which takes the form of a three-day conference hosted in turn by one of the universities/colleges in the System, is known as the Southeastern Model of the African Union (in short, SEMAU). The Annual SEMAU conference is supported by the University System of Georgia African Council (USAC), which is one of the five University System of Georgia (USG’s) regional councils operating under the auspices of the USG System Council on International Education (SCIE). SEMAU is really a big conference on African affairs that gives students an unprecedented opportunity to learn about all facets of African life. This educational exercise gives participating students an opportunity to learn about diplomacy, conflict resolution, leadership andgovernment organizations and organs.
